|
Rules as followed:
(as adopted and modified from winamp forums, the unedited version is available here: http://forums.winamp.com/rules.php)
Advertising
- Advertising or telling other members to buy something is strictly against The MSR Live Show's rules. Any Spam, Junk MailChain Mail or Advertising posts will be locked\edited immediately by a Moderator. This also includes your Shoutcast Station, if any questions contact me or another admin for info.
Avatars
- Avatars are little graphics that you can display on your profile. They have to abide by the forum rules, etc. Violation of the forum rules with your avatar can result in you getting your avatar privlages taken away.
Flaming
- Material that is knowingly illegal, harassing, hurting to another member is against the rules. There is a ZERO tolerance for flaming here. Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited or deleted with no warning or consent and you may get a ban depending on the seriousness of the offense.
Right to Privacy
- Every member has privacy, if anything posted that contains personal\private or public information and you do not want that posted, tell the user friendly to delete the post offensive material towards you, if user doesn't comply, post will be edited by a moderator. (private messaging a moderator is always a good idea to get fast action)
Spamming
- Topics/posts that are just complete nonsense will be deleted, or have the entire thread locked, at the moderators discretion. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Racism
- Topics/posts containing such will be edited or deleted accordingly. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Porn
- Material that is sexually or otherwise obscene is not permitted on these forums. Topics/posts containing such will be deleted on sight. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Warez
- Providing or asking for information on how to illegally obtain "warez", "gamez" or any other software or work protected by copyright law is strictly forbidden. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Virii, Malware and Adware
- Posting links leading to virii, malware, adware, etc is forbidden. Any violation of this rule, your account will be banned without prior warning and the thread will be edited or deleted accordingly. As a warning to our users, you should be vigilent when clicking on links and exercise the same caution as you would on other sites.
Post Pumping
- If a post is suspected to serve no other purpose than to increase the post count of the poster, then the moderators may, at their discretion, issue a PM to the member in question inquiring about the nature of the post. Posts/Threads that are blatantly post pumping will be removed/locked without recourse to the poster.
Cross-posting
- Posting the same question in more than one forum is not allowed. Should this occur, then only the thread in the most relevant forum will be left open; all others will be locked and subsequently deleted.
What should I do if I see objectionable material on the forums?
- It is important that members recognize the real-time nature of these forums; the moderators cannot always monitor the contents of posted messages. As such, we depend upon you to inform them when members are violating our rules. You must also recognize that they cannot respond immediately to such notices and that some time may pass before any warranted action is taken.
To contact a moderator, press the ! button in the upper right corner of the post in question, this will contact a moderator and the message will be dealt with.
What happens if I break the rules?
- At best your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offence is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse so please don't.
Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued a temporary ban - your posting privileges will be disabled for seven days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.
For persistent and or deliberate rule-breakers your account will be "Nuked". That means you are no longer welcome on these forums and your account will no longer function. If you re-register, your new account will be nuked immediately and any new threads/posts will automatically be removed, regardless of their nature.
GLOSSARY OF USEFUL FORUM TERMS
---------------------------------
Admins- (shortened form of Adminstrator); The ultimate gods of
the Forums. They make the final decision on who can be banned, and
other life-threatening questions.
Banned- This is when you are not allowed to make anymore posts.
Your IP address, E-mail address, and user name will prevent you to make
anymore posts. This is extreeeeemly rare, and is preceeded by a warning.
FAQ- Frequently asked questions. The best resource for tech support questions.
Flame war- a deliberate exchange of insults between two parties.
This usually involves a series of insulting, irrelevant posts in the
same thread.
Kill- To delete a post.
LOL- Laughing out loud.
Nuke- To maliciously destroy a thread.
Mod- shortened form of Moderator); A moderator who has been
given the power to delete/edit other people's posts. They are there to
ensure that discussions are relevant and interesting. Don't worry, they
only use their powers very sparingly.
The moderators were chosen by God himself. God, what with being
all-knowing and stuff, chose enough moderators to handle the load.
Please don't ask to be made a moderator. We have enough, and you will
only be disappointed.
Regular- Someone who lives on the Forums. Their diet
usually consists of waffles, syrup and Mountain Dew. Reknowned for
their general friendliness, regulars are far from being extinct. But
please, support their cause by donating generously to the Poor Boy
Foundation
ROTFLMAO- Rolling on the floor, laughing my ass off.
Thread- A topic started by one member to which anyone can reply. Discussions should be about the original topic.
An important thing to keep in mind. This is of course, a public
space and it behooves you and the health of your computer to take care
in clicking on any links/files of unknown origin that someone may post
in a thread. Sad as it may seem, there are unsocialized bonenuts out
there that get their jollies by causing mayhem. Due to the immediate
nature of message boards, we can't insure that a damaging file won't
find its way onto the boards, though we'll make every effort to keep
things safe by removing them ASAP. Please inform the Forum admin or any moderators you see wandering around if you spy something suspicious.
Exercise caution and keep your common sense meter turned on and
properly calibrated.
We cannot be held responsible for the content posted by other Forum
users. It may very well happen that something posted, be it text,
images, files, or links to any of these thing may be offensive to you.
The moderators will do the best they can to keep the Forums
clean of offensive posts, but with such a large community, it is
impossible to screen every post quickly and efficiently. Also keep in
mind that we highly regard free speech, so the protection of that right
will be utmost in deeming what is appropriate. If you have any specific
complaint about something offensive you have seen, please feel free to
contact a moderator or adminstrator. The best prevention is sound
judgment.
Remember, being a nice netizen will lead to respect, which leads to
prompt answers and much fun. Do your best to be cordial, and you will
see what a great thing the Winamp community is.
If you have any questions about any issue brought up by this thread,
feel free to ask the moderators, or your fellow Forumites. Above all,
have a nice day

Signature Size.
- We currently have the sig size at 500 characters.
<s>If you disagree with the number or want it raised, post something somewhere and we'll see if its ok or not.</s>
Contact an administrator to debate this issue.
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, we'd like to make some suggested signature sizes and guidelines.
We have no exact image rules, etc. but we will judge it <s>accordingly</s> on a case by case bases.
For text, please try and keep it to 5 lines max, this font size, smaller sizes will be ok <s>but kinda eye ball it</s>. Also, please dont have huge signature pictures.
If you do you will be issued a warning to remove it and if you do not, a moderator will remove it for you.
